WHAT IS STUMP GRINDING?
Stump grinding is the process of using a piece of machinery with a powerful rotatating blade that rips into the wood stump left behind after a tree has been cut down. The blades teeth cut the stump wood into small pieces. The machine operator carefully guides the blade over the entire stump, reducing the wood to smaller chips and takes the stump down to below ground level.
Typically, the stump is ground down to approximately 6 inches below ground level, leaving the roots and the core of the stump below the ground. Over time, these materials will naturally decay and should not cause any problems for you.
Stump Grinding is a time saving and cost effective method, as opposed to full stump removal, as it is a faster process and does the least damage to the surrounding area. Once ground down, the woodchips and any dispersed soil are raked back into the hole. Wood chips typically take around 3 months to break down, and you can expect the same process for your stump grinding waste.
OUR MACHINE, ACCESSIBILITY, SAFETY & INSURANCE
Our machine and stump grinding attachment can get into those tight access areas, and we only require approximately 850mm to access small side or pool fence gates etc. We use a protection screen around the grind area whenever possible to limit flying debris and for personal safety. We are fully insured for your peace of mind.
PRICE GUIDELINE
We understand that being left in the dark about potential costs before making an enquiry can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially with the current unpredictability of our economy. We hope the following guideline will help you establish a rough idea to see if the services are within your budget at this point in time.
Generally, you can expect a minimum charge of $180.00 for stump grinding services. This is not a call out fee, but does help us cover costs to travel to your location as well as running costs for the machinery. In some cases, for example, if you had two small soft wood palm stumps, and access to the area was good, you may get your grind job done for the minimum price.
There are a few factors that come into play when we quote for stumps, such as the size, hardness of timber, and how long we expect it to take. Generally, a hard timber stump at around 35cm diameter and 20cm high would be charged out at approximately $200.00 per stump.
